Celebrate Life!

At 7:00 p.m. on Palm Sunday, April 17, 2011, The Sanctuary Choir of Gordon Street Christian Church will present excerpts from the Pulpit Musical/ Drama Celebrate life, by Buryl Red and Ragan Courtney. In this service of worship, the singers will be joined by youth and adults who will render interpretations of several of the choral numbers in the form of Liturgical or Sacred Dance, and speakers who will tell the story through dramatic narratives.

Celebrate Life tells the story of Jesus' life and ministry in simple, dramatic terms. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John share their faith and some of their experiences. The tone is warm, intimate, and worshipful. The music is at times "upbeat" and at times poignant and plaintive : at all times it is an expression of the message of the text.

Narrators for the performance will be Rev. Mark Benson, Rev. Stephen Ginn, John Harding, Jim Whitfield, and Rev. Sharon Ginn. Dancers will be Emily Benson, Laura Knott, Abby Sargeant, Ashley Scarborough, Beth Heath, and Nora Parker, Choreographer for the production. Soloists are: Ginger Johnson, soprano, Abbye Reynolds, soprano, Hazel Yarbrough, soprano, and Charles Yarbrough Bass. The production is under the direction of Joanne Heath, Minister of Music at Gordon Street Christian Church.

The performance is free and open to the public. The church is located at 118 E. Gordon Street in downtown Kinston. For more information, call the church office at 252.523.4143 or view here
