Born in Wilmington DE, Laura has lived in Kinston "all her life", or at least since she was 7 years old. She is a 1979 graduate of Kinston High School and a 1981 graduate with an Associate of Arts degree from Peace College in Raleigh. In 1993 she took on the greatest and most rewarding challenge of her life by going back to school at Mt. Olive College while working full-time at Lenoir Community College. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Development in 1995 and continued working at LCC until 1999.

Laura is an active member of the Moseley-Bright Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and is also involved with organizing the Kingston Society of the Children of the American Revolution. She has a great love of family, heritage and patriotism.
Laura was hired as Office Manager at Gordon Street Christian Church in March 2000. She is married to Ricky Clark and they have a cat, Noel.
