Joanne Heath is the Minister of Music at Gordon Street Christian Church in Kinston, NC, where she administers a music program that includes vocal choirs for adults and youth, and a handbell program for beginning and advanced ringers. She has served in this position for the past 32 years.
The youth and handbell choirs, under her direction, have presented concert tours in the Eastern United States and have participated in Area and National Handbell Festivals sponsored by the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers.
Joanne served as Chairman of Area III, AGEHR and has conducted workshops for beginning and advanced handbell directors, classes in beginning and advanced handbell techniques, and directed massed handbell clinics. | The Sanctuary Bells, advanced handbell choir at Gordon Street Christian Church, has rung at the White House, and the Quadrennial Assembly at Purdue University, numerous Regional Assemblies of the Christian Church (DOC), the General Assembly of the Christian Church (DOC) in 2003, and at Epcot / Disney World in 2005.
She has served on the board of the Association of Disciples Musicians, and has conducted handbell seminars for their National workshops. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education, and has taught in private and public schools. |
